The game that is. You can now play classic Doom on an iPod through a Linux port. http://www.ipodobserver.com/story/23173

What does it mean that I thought clarifying you meant the game was redundant? [Wink]

A very clever achievement I have no doubt but like old arcade games on mobile phones - "Why?"

Oh, wow!

I've had iPod Linux on mine for a while, but I never imagined that it could do something like this.

Serenak: I think that as the low framerate stops this being much fun, it's more of a proof of concept. It just shows some of the ways in which the iPod can be enhanced, encouraging other developers to make useful/fun applications.

Yeah that is what I meant - very clever but....

And why would you want to try to play any such game on the tiny screen of an iPod or worse a mobile...

Don't get me wrong, I think it is very much an achievement showing just how far you can take linux (or any of those "tiny" type OSs). Of course it also shows just how much computing power we now put into "toys" without even thinking about it...
