Did anyone else see this?

Upgraded PowerMac

You would think they would put it on the main page but all they have on there is Tiger. Don't get me wrong I'm upgrading all the computers here to tiger. But this is big news. And is it just me or has intel slowing down on making CPU's faster? All I see on Gateway and Dell are 3.2GHz's so with the new 2.7 G5 the MHz (GHz) wars are very close. Even tho it's like comparing Apples and oranges. (Hehe pun intended)

There's nothing wrong with me, This is how I'm supposed to be.

Yes, Intel slowed down on making faster CPUs, MHz-wise. The closer they got to 4GHz, the harder it got to make enough good chips. So they backed off making them faster clock-wise and got ready to put multiple cores on one chip to make them faster ops-wise.

Intel right now has found that the faster you make a chip, the more heat it makes, and the faster it can melt it self. They actually got a 6ghz chip made in the lab, but it melted itself with standard cooling systems. In like a few hours. And comercially, they dont have many options for cooling. You can try liquid helium immursion, but its a little expensive. Heat is the killer of computer systems now, esp once you start hitting 4ghz. Even the 3.5s are hard to cool. So, as said, they are going to dual core chips that run slower (2s and low 3s) and also expanding on 64bit processing.
