Hehehe... those are soooo cute!! The second one in the highchair with the spaghetti.... add in some red beets and make the hair blond and you'd have one of my pictures from when I was two years old. [Smile]

Awww, csk, she is just adorable!! Such joy, excitement, and vitality!! [Big Grin] She reminds me of a little girl I met a few weeks' ago at Jenn's church... lots of energy, joy, and the winsomest smile you'd ever seen... until looking at Dora-Marie's and your daughter's pictures, of course. [Smile]

Isn't it kinda odd that we'll post the real names of our friends and family online but we won't say our own names? I wonder why that is? [Confused]

Tee Hee Hee Hee. Those are cute. I sure am glad the beets-in-the-hair picture my mom has is from long before the digital era.

You mean my real name *isn't* Cap'n Vic? I guess that explains why most people don't salute me [ohwell]

EDIT: csk's response is more subtle. This is a thread about sweet children (or spaghetti'd children!) after all.

Okay, can we cut out the revisionist history here, please?

In the one place it was somewhat fitting, though I felt that was even inappropriate, but now things are just going too far. Stand by your words!

Umm, I'm siding with dman on this one. csk, did you really have to remind everyone of what I said? I've never claimed to be perfect (and I'm not going to start now), but I decided to show some discretion and delete what could've been viewed as an off-color statement. By repeating it, you've basically fouled my attempt to keep the thread clean and innocent... kind of like the children whose pictures have been posted here, huh?

Shame on you.

Rhonwyyn: I am truly sorry you feel that way, but I stand by what I said. You publically rebuked me for coarse joking in a thread, and since that, you've done exactly the same thing not once, but twice. Apart from which you already know from previous discussions that I have trouble working out where to draw the line on these matters. Perhaps next time it would be more appropriate to PM on this sort of thing, rather than making it a public thing (and also more in keeping with the biblical model for rebuke, BTW).

And I don't think dman meant what you thought he did. I think he was implying that you shouldn't have altered your post, but I guess he could confirm that.

Very interesting perspective you have there, BW. I disagree that I'm looking for attention, but if that's how you perceive my posts, then I should consider why. As a general rule, I do not post on the boards on weekends, nor during most hours of the day (generally posting is restricted to evening hours) and I am hardly ever on IRC (and when I am, I don't think that I say much if anything).

As far as public rebuking and all that jazz, yes, I am still trying to sort out what is acceptable and what isn't. Hence, after I had posted (during which time csk had posted), I read csk's post and liked it much better than mine, so I deleted mine.

When I posted that scripture about coarse joking and all that stuff, it was in reference to csk's comment about saying something racy at Bible study. My experience has been that comments like that tend to disrupt the environment and render it rather unconducive to study.

Should Christians refrain from joking around at all times? Probably, if I'm understanding those verses correctly. csk and I have had discussions about what's appropriate and what's not. At the beginning, because of some struggles in my own life, I held a very narrow view of what's okay and what isn't. As you probably can tell, that view isn't quite so narrow. I am not dimwitted by any means and I'm sure I can crack racy jokes along with the rest of you. Up to this point I haven't because I've made an effort not to post stuff like that.

Have I made a few mistakes? Definitely. This last time I tried to correct it before too many people saw it. Unfortunately, at least one too many people saw it and it's been thrown into my face.

Aditu, I apologize for what started out as an homage to your precious baby but has turned into this ugly conversation. I have only myself to blame and I hope you will forgive me for it.

Rhonwyyn and I have now discussed all this and resolved it between ourselves. Sorry to inadvertently drag all you people into this. We both intend to appropriately use PMs in future to avoid this sort of thing happening again.

So, cute kids pics, huh? Aditu and I can't be the only ones, bring 'em on!

I don't think most of us are overly cautious as to our real names.. if you look through my posts, you can find mind rather easily.

My name* pretty easy to find, plus I'm sure I must have mentioned it on here somewhere...

* originally said "Mine is pretty easy to find...", but then in a WWCVD moment saw where that could lead so changed the sentence [Wink]

My name's all over my website, I have no qualms about throwing it up on the 'Net. (Poke around the FAQ section a bit, you really can't miss it.)

While we're at it with the baby pictures, here's me and mine:

Dem, your baby snake is beautiful...

csk and Ronwhyyn - I'm not religious enough to quite follow that liturgical (?) or possibly theosophical(?) spat, but all I can say is
1) Not really sure what it was about
2) Glad you seem to have sorted it out
3) Love you both even though I don't subscribe to your beliefs
4) My philosophy culled from many religions and other "holy" writings has become: "be not sh*tty unto others, lest they be sh*tty unto you" and "your life is not a rehearsal - enjoy it!"

(also neatly coined by Bill and Ted as "Be excellent to one another and party on dudes...")

If I am poking my nose where it don't ought to be - sorry

Actually I think I should just shut up now befpre I get in any more trouble...

Captain Vic, how is you're new baby doing? How is being an older sibling working out for your first born?

Gunnar is pretty. What kind of snake is he
