That's the only thing the Mac is lagging behind on: games.

So I wish you vast amounts of luck and endless venture capital in your quest to right this terrible wrong. [Big Grin]

Congrats. [thumbsup]

Zwilnik: that ToySight stuff is wicked cool! I'm downloading AirBurst right now. For the first time in my life I'm actually going to buy a computer game (for myself, rather than my kids)

Ok Zwilnik, I know this is a bad place to be asking this question, but ....

Why go into business developing games for the mac?

Surely your expected sales would be far higher if you aimed at just about any other games platform. Are you independently wealthy, and able to just not care about the money? Or do you know something about the games market that I don't ?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a mac user myself, and think they're great, but I wouldn't bet the rent on the commercial success of a mac app.

Good question Druid [Smile]

Apart from the whole warm cuddly feeling developing Mac games gives you, Mac games can be developed on a relatively small budget (no special dev kits and no having to test on every combination of 3rd party bolt-ons) and the Mac games market isn't flooded with budget re-releases and CCC games like the PC games market is at the moment. Thus it's ideal for a small company to make an impact in and (theoretically) make a living out of.

Sounds good.

Oh, I forgot to say congratulations and good luck. [blush]

Congratulations and good luck.

There, I've said it twice, that should make up for it. [Smile]

Zwilnik: Umm, maybe I'm stupid this weekend, but I can't actually figure out how to play airburst. None of the keys on the keyboard nor, the mousepad seem to control anything, nor can I find any description of the controls in the manual. Any hints?

you might be suffering a case of key-deadness quantumfluff. The mouse should navigate you around the menus, but if you haven't rebooted your Mac in a while and you're using a pre-Panther version of OS X, there's a little bug in the system's keyboard routines that disables the key reading routine that we call after a while. It's fixed by rebooting.

If you select the game options page, you should be able to see what keys are assigned to each player. Player 1 (BCM) is normally the arrow keys for left/right bat rotate and up arrow to fire (when you have the pop-gun or a sticky bat).

Theoretically, Apple fixed this on Panther, although we've had one report of someone having dead keys on Panther.
