In the interest of equal time after Snaggy's Cheney joke roundup...and adapted from a posting over on EMinds:

A young lady is interviewing for a job with Senator Ted Kennedy.

Kennedy says to her, "You realize that you'll have to travel a lot."

"That's OK," replies the woman.

"And that to save money we'll have to share a hotel room," continues the Senator.

The woman just nods. "OK."

Kennedy continues, "And on some nights we will be having sex."

The woman says, "That's all right."

Kennedy then asks, "Do you have any questions?"

"Well," says the woman, "if we are having sex, I might get pregnant and I wonder what arrangements you've made for obstetrics insurance, maternity leave, etc."

"Don't worry," responds Senator Kennedy, "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it."

Uhh, I don't get it. Is the bridge reference supposed to be the funny part? Or does Ted Kennedy have a reputation for being mostly unprepared?

(Since moving out of Mom's house and not subscribing to a daily newspaper, I've lost track of most news items expect for the major stuff that makes it onto radio news reports. [ohwell] )

You must have missed some of the links in the last flame war. [Razz]

This is old news...anyone want to give Ms. Rhonwyyn a link to how he let her die?

So the woman this joke references is the one he let drown in that accident? Was that woman pregnant?

That was 35 years ago?! I thought it happened last month 'cause it's been in the news. Why now? Just 'cause of the anniversary of it? Or has the case been reopened?

Nah...old Teddy's never been able to live that incident down. That's why I refer to him on occasion as "The Chappaquiddick Aquaman." (And John Kerry is his chief waterboy.) Also, if he says something inane on TV, I'm liable to retort, "Ah, go tell it to Mary Jo Kopechne."
