Many people would agree that the best place to live for geeky people would be Silicon Valley area. What do you people think, is there some city / region that you think is perfect for geeks. Please do not say Akihabara Tokyo [Big Grin]

Utah, near Salt Lake City.

While very white bread, Republican dominated, and morally anal. It also is the home to Novell, LanDesk, a couple of Intel ventures, Overstock.com and Ebay.

Plus there is also a large amount of small start up firms around the area.

RTP (Research Triangle Park) still has some viability as a geek-centric hub for business. The area is lovely, with access to almost anything I ever wanted...shopping, rural areas, larger cities, small towns. The beaches are less than two hours away, and the mountains are about 3 hours the other way.
Also, for continuing education, you would be hard pressed to find more options than you will in the Raleigh Durham Chapel Hill area. Most importantly, the coeds at the schools are hot and smart! [Wink]
Just watch out for the ones at Moo-U (NC State), some of them think their excrement smells of flowers.
