We have a Cannon Bubble Jet printer that doesn't have Linux drivers available, and so it's connected to my mother's machine. The thing guzzles ink like you wouldn't believe, and cartridges are too expensive. We've used the refill kit a number of times, but now these cartridges are at the end of their life.
It dawned on me when I was on my way to the checkout at office max (through the printer aisle), after getting a new HD (they were on sale), that I could probably find a cheap old-style dot matrix printer online. I decided to look to see what they had there... I was shocked at how much new ones were.
Long and the short, anyone have any ideas (aside from the eBay (which I'm already scanning)) for where to find dirt cheap old dot matrix printers?

I once came up with five of them dumpster diving at my alma mater. (though I got rid of them as part of dirt cheap systems I used to sell to freshmen.) I would go to a local privatly owned PC repair shop and ask the owner if he has any in back. Places like these really tend to collect the (old stuff), (junk) and sometimes they don't think that people would be interested.

If I could bear to let go of it, I'd offer you my Pansonic KXP2124 for nothing but shipping... but I have silly notions that I'll do something with it some day.

Hmmm, you may wish to contact Enzo or Fong. They could probably give you some info.
