I have an Acer 19' flat screen monitor. In order to save energy I have a very short standby time for my monitor. The problem is (or the annoying thing, as its not really a problem ) that every time I turn on my monitor , a couple second flash screen of the acer logo pops up before my desktop does. My old monitor didn't have a flash screen pop up and this really annoys me. I already bought this monitor they don't need to pop up a 2 second advertisment for themselves every time I turn my monitor on. So, has anybody removed this flash screen on thier monitor ever? Even from other brands. I supposed its probably hard wired into some chip iside the monitor. Does anybody know which one? Does any body know how hard it would be to get rid of this Acer flash screen? FYI the modal numer is AL1951cs.

I'm treasurer of IEEE-Computer Science at UW-Milwaukee, and we have the same "problem" but we just ignore it. We recently got the monitors to replace old CRTs and the money came from the student senate (seg fees), so we're willing to put up with it for the cost of the monitors (to us).
