I need something for winxp If it was Linux I would just script it and use Cron but i dont get that functionality until christmas when i can install SuSe 10.0 OSS. Help please because i dont want to be late to class in the morning any more. [Confused]

Doesn't your cell phone have a built-in alarm clock? Just set it to both ring and vibrate and place it next to your bed - if the sound of your cell "crawling" on hardwood floor doesn't wake you up in the morning, nothing will. If you insist on using your computer instead, this little app should do the trick.

Windows has Scheduled Tasks, a clicky version of cron. [Wink] Link that to a music player, and you ought to be set...

Hell, I'm pretty sure it also has an `at` command somewhere...

Get yourself cygwin (http://www.cygwin.com)) or even more intelligent: Knoppix!

You can't create a scheduled event that says

winamp C:\path\to\whatever\mp3\file.mp3?

A batch file with "start foo.mp3" ought to work.

Or try 'sndrec32 foo.mp3' (whatever "Sound Recorder" is called in your silly OS. [Razz]

If I CBA, I'd try it out...but I'm hacking away at Perl in gVim right now, and using rxvt with Cygwin. *sigh* Bloody Windoze...

*shrug*
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051203 Firefox/1.5 ID:2005120303

I'll be much happier when that reads "PowerPC" in maybe 1/2 hr or so... [Smile]

I was actually looking into this a little while ago, and there are a few shareware/freeware apps around that do just this. If I were you, I'd just try installing a few and seeing which one grabs your fancy...

I've slept through my cell phone doing this on the hardwood desk, while beeping the intro guitar riff from "Temple Of Love," sooo many times.

I finally just sucked it up and bought a Westclox alarm that sounds like an air raid siren when it goes off. If you're really having trouble, though, get yourself one of these. It drove my college roommates (and the other people living on my floor, to boot) nuts back when I was in school. [Big Grin]

dp004i that app you linked works quite nicely.
csk I looked into several of the other apps that you mentioned searching for...The most reliable one is Music Alarm Clock but most of the apps including MAC want you to regester to get full functionality... I am looking into the program to find if i can extract the Reg Num so that it will work with out whining at me.
Thx Everyone for the help.
