I am lucky enough to have recieved a new iMac and I started it and it asked to transfer my personal data from my old Mac. Unfortunately, my old machine is a very old iMac without a fire wire port. Is there any way to use the USB ports to accomplish the automated transfer from my old machine to the new one? Otherwise I will do it manually.

Use the ethernet ports, you'll need a crossover cable.

You might not need a crossover cable, a patch cable will probably do. I believe most macs have supported auto-negotiation for a while now.

Littlefish is correct but if it is pre-FireWire then it *might* need a crossover Cat 5...
