It dawned on me the other day that it was some time in 2002 that I officially joined these forums, and so I logged in to take a look. As it would turn out, my 10 anniversary was just a few days ago.
And so, I break my 3 and a half year hiatus to say hello to the forum that became my second family for many of my teenage years, and to provide an update on life for those of you I have been less good about keeping up with.
In the last 3 years, I have…
- Been fortunate enough to establish myself in a software development position at a large and well-known financial institution, working on things I could only dream about when I first joined here. I really attribute parts of my career success to my years of geeking out here on the forums and over in #joyoftech. So much of my personal development and ability to interact with humans stems from the friends I’ve made here, and I want thank the community for that.
- Been dating a girl for a number of years, and we now mark our 2nd year of tolerating^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H living together.
- Taken to bicycling as a means of keeping my otherwise sedentary lifestyle from killing me.
- Been going to school half time to finish up a degree finally, although not having one hasn’t turned out to be a major obstacle.
- Netflix
- Been cursing the gods that ArenaNet decided to release Guild Wars 2 the same week classes start (this week)
And most importantly, I’ve missed GC. I’m not around much, but I wanted to say a huge thanks to Snaggy and Nitrozac for keeping this site running for all of these years, and to all of you (that actually know who I am ) for making this the awesome community it always has been.
I hope all is well with the rest of you, and here’s to another 10 years *raises glass of tasty alcoholic beverage of choice*.

Spidey: Hey! Good seeing you around these parts.
I now have a coworker or two living/working in your neck of the woods and I generally think of you as the 'better person' living there whenever I think of them.
Very glad to hear good news. Well done, sir!
