In the past 3 weeks I have had to kill 3 black widows next to my front door. I have lived in this house for 6 years and not had this problem. Apparently they come out at night in the summertime. I am more concerned about how many are still hidden in the siding around the house? I would assume there is a nest. At least they are not inside... *YET*?

You need blue muddauber wasps. Their favorite snack is black widows.

Which reminds me of something I learned in scouting. If you are ever camping, and the outhouse has a bunch of muddauber nests on it ( they are easily reconizable) don't sh!t there, there are probably black widows under the seat, a BW bite on your genitalia probably will ruin your camping trip. Better to go use a tree.

Don't worry, I won't go near it till I have my steel toe boots, tube socks and baggy pants on. oh btw, I am on #4 now! Got up this morning (still dark out) and right where the squashed one is a new one has another web. Each of them always in the same spot. I know for a fact my boot smashed the other 3. Might have to call a pro to put some poison down.

____ In this whole prey predator thing, the predator never wipes out the prey population. Build or put up a Purple Martin house because you have Mosquitoes and now you have pretty birds feeding on the pests after they have fed on you. Three years ago I posted about the Barn and Field Swallows watching me mow and then going after the bugs. Well they decimated they bugs, too many Swallows, now the the bugs are on the upswing and so are the Swallows. Highs and lows of the Prey/Predator mix.
