A friend of mine has her birthday tomorrow. I drove to Charlotte, South Caroline to have dinner with her and give her her gift yesterday (well, the last of three gifts really). Before we headed out to dinner, I gave her a card and an envelope. The card was funny and got some laughter, but then she opened the envelope...

It was stuffed with money...

3.5 quadrillion dollars, in fact!

!!!

Of course, they were Zimbabwe dollars. [Big Grin]

/Old/ ZWL, though...I would imagine.

That was a bit non-trivial to calculate, but it shows that you are definitely quite generous. ;P [Far more so with your time!]

P.S. More reading on Wikipedia leads me to think that it might make for some awesome Monopoly (TM) money! [Big Grin]

Sheesh...that's crazy inflation. [Frown]

Can you believe they make a monopoly game with credit cards now so the kids don't have to do math!!! They just swipe thier card. My kids will never get such a game.

Zimbabwe, the land of the undead currency. It's such a disaster, what Mugabe did and allowed to happen to the place.

When I was in Zimbabwe, early 1996, Mugabe had been in power for a long time, and seemed to be doing a fairly good job. By african standards, Zimbabwe was a prosperous country, the people looked well-fed, the electricity and phones worked, and the Zimbabwe dollar was worth something, I carried $5 and $10 notes for my daily spending.

And then Mugabe just went mad, and the country went to hell. [Frown]

Definitely the old Zimbabwe dollars.

The other two gifts were a bit more generous, but one is hard to explain and the other probably deserves its own topic.
