So I finally got sick of having to constantly change batteries, be limited to a gig, and have to scroll through that whole gig to find a specific song on my mp3 player. That I went to the online Apple store and bought myself a 4 gig second generation refurbished Ipod Nano - silver.

It only cost me 120 Canadian with tax - so hopefully a good deal.

So now it is just a waiting game to see when it comes (nov 7 - 13th).

I got a free nano (new chubby style) with my macbook. It has a fabulous screen, but the volume level is too low to use on noisy public transport, which sucks!

Have you checked the volume limiter? Maybe it defaults to "on".

I was wrong! I did check the volume limiter, which was off, but today I tried plugging in the supplied headphones, and it is much louder.

Before I was using a pair of ipod headphones from my previous ipod, through the radio remote plugged into the dock connector. If you plan to use your nano in this way beware! Or msybe the old remote isn't properly supported, or some software update will fix it.

Anyway, plain headphones give plenty of volume, but the remote limits it.
