I am inspired by Lady_Christy's letter to her printer .

Dear Legolas,

We're great buddies. We do everything together: surfing, sound recording, writing, World of Warcrafting, browsing the GC forums. I don't know what I'd be without you. But lately you've been acting strangely, shutting down at random times. You even shut down while loading up. Are you trying to emulate my old Windows computer? Is it an emotional problem? You can tell me.

I am going to take you in to the Apple Store, old buddy. I know you're out of warranty but maybe you just have a little iCold. The Windows XP machine will fill in for you while you are being checked. While you are there say hi to all the pretty 24" iMacs and fun-loving Macbook Pros. Maybe the Apple doctor will say you can be treated. Maybe not.

Do not worry, though I fear the worst. Your Mac karma will be preserved if it should need to be transferred. Your Classic soul may be lost, but that I am prepared to accept.

So here's an iBeer to you. pal. [Happytears] The iPods anxiously await your return.

Your friend, Tominfla (aka Tamiflu)

I'd like to offer a suggestion on the part of the iMac: maybe it's getting hot. I know mine tends to accumulate loads of dust. Actually, that sounds like classic old woman syndrome: collecting dust, and going through hot flashes.

Just thought I'd give my two cents [Smile]

Dear iMac,

I am going to try Nerdwithnofriend's suggestion and see if that makes any difference. You're a little dusty under the grid. We'll see how that works.

Tominfla... If you have an iMac G5 20 inch ALS... the symptoms you describe are covered under a repair extension program for the power supply... Please report to you local Apple repair center..

Please check you symptomology at http://www.apple.com/support/imac/powersupply/repairextension/

Dear Legolas,

It's OK! You just have a little iCold. Macmcseboy says you probably have a bad power supply which is making you sneeze and shut off. You are indeed one of those iMacs. I will take you in and make you feel better.

Your buddy,

This made me laugh until I realized that probably everyone on here will take this seriously.

Lost1soul I do want people to laugh. [Big Grin] It's half serious. The computer really does have a problem but I wanted to express myself in a creative manner. I'll be sending another letter to keep you all posted on the prognosis.

I totally figured that.....which is why I found it even funnier when, instead of people laughing...they went straight to the problem....aren't techies fun.

Dear Legolas,

Well old buddy it's good to see you up and running again. Your iCold is cured. And it didn't cost anything! Ain't computer health insurance great? Many thanks to the techies who helped out.

Wanna go play some Warcraft?
