My idiot neighbor keeps waking me up at all hours because he's too much of a #%&(#)%*!& to put his video games on silent when he plays all night. And of course, my stupid apartment complex isn't enforcing its own "3 strikes you're out" rule.

Does anybody have mafia connections? I think this guy could use a pair of cement shoes to go swimming with. [Mad]

I'm up with heartburn. Stupid acidy spaghetti sauce.

I have no connections with the mafia. Sorry [Frown]

But sometimes banging on the wall can help. Unless the person is a HUGE jerk they should get the point.

I've banged the ceiling many a night. I've also called the cops and had the apartment management call them.

This guy apparently is a complete jerk. Even after all that, he still won't get quiet.

I work 8 hours a day on my feet. And after being stuck with this moron, I'm fully in support of the death penalty for bad neighbors.

Give this guy the chair.

EDIT: I'm leaving the text of the post, because apparently I haven't had enough coffee to comprehend that you already called the police. Did you file a charge or just complain?

I don't know about there, but where I live there's a 10 PM to 6 AM quiet law, meaning that you can call the police and file a disturbance of the peace charge. (FWIW, you can do that during the day too if they are making enough noise to disturb your quiet enjoyment of your residence.)

I've dealt with this in two ways. When I was growing up, the house behind my parent's house would host loud pool parties late at night. We called the cops, but the people quieted down as soon as they figured out the cops were coming, so they would never get caught being loud. We just ended up dealing with it and suffering.

In college, I had a similar problem with my neighbors. Luckily, I had a sweet sound system hooked up to my desktop. When they got loud, I'd turn up my speakers to a volume that would make their bones shake. Generally, shaking someone's skeleton is enough to tame the biggest jerk.

If that didn't work, I would turn up the bass and make their hearts literally skip a few beats. If THAT doesn't work, maybe the neighbor is dead.

Turn your sub up and play a looping low frequency sweep sound file (say, 20Hz to 70Hz and back to 20Hz) for a few minutes - the guy will think he's hearing strange noises in his head and move out [Smile]

Maybe you could put up a lite-brite on a wall. He might run scared from "the bomb".

On the other hand, it might only work in Boston.

There was some jackass who lived by me that loved to play the Grateful Dead at high volume so the whole block could hear it. I despise the Grateful Dead and Deadheads in general. But this idiot was not a mellow kind of guy. His girlfriend and he were always fighting and yelling about some crap. They were both into drama WAY too much. One time they were downstairs tripping, so I thought it would be a good time to put on Yoko Ono's "Plastic Ono Band" album and crank it. I happen to like it, by the way. It has a groove much like the German group Can. So while the eerie wails of "Greenfield Morning I Pushed An Empty Baby Carriage All Over The City" played, I could hear Deadhead boy consoling his girlfriend. "It's gonna be all right!" Ha! Ha! Good ol' Yoko sent her on a bad trip. [evil]

I'm having a bit of a problem with neighbours too, the other apartments living room is next to my bedroom so on weekends they stay up late to watch sope operas and sh** like that and i can't sleep because they have too much wax in their ears and put the volume disturbingly high.
i guess we gotta live with it.

This is the part where you have permission to cause them as much trouble as you can. This includes taking over their computer and printing out random death threats from mr. Gates, ductaping there door shut, call animal control to their house, droning out their music with the most annoying songs ever, etc

http://www.snopes.com/love/revenge/shrimp.asp should give you some an idea. Or perhaps some pepper spray under the door or on the handle.

If you're going to resort to that kind of thing, three tricks that I like are:
* balancing a plastic cup of water on their doorknob
(When they open the door from the inside, the water pours all over them.)

* rub KY on the doorknob while they aren't home. For added effect, using the warming gel.

* take a few large capacity garbage bags and cut them so they end up being flat sheets. Use duct tape to attach the bag-sheets to their door frame. I'm still not sure which is more fun: do when they are home (and hence trapped inside), or when they are out (and hence wonder why their living quarters look like they've been quarantined.)

How about a little Dave's insanity on their AC filter? It's winter, so by the time they turn it on it will not only have full impregnated the material, it will have gone slightly rancid [Big Grin]

Inconciderate neighbors must be a pain. I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully, you would be able to sleep if there weren't noise though, right?

As for Mafia connections...hmm, can't think of anyone. However, I do know a certain merchant who cannot be traced, and his only fee is raw meat. You can see him here:
hired assassin

as for contacting him...hmm, that will be tough.
