No offense, but people have been doing that for years. Maybe not sharing beer recipes, but definitely recipes for other things. The bread recipe I currently use was received from someone else who modified a recipe she had received from another person. When I share my recipe with others, I include my modifications and site the person who gave it to me.
Julia Cloud's first French cookbook could definitely be considered an equivalent to an insider's guide to M$.

Mental note: it's no longer "sharing recipes," it's "open source food." ![[Razz]](tongue.gif)

As someone who has been exposed to aussie beer ads, I'm not sure which one you're referencing there.

Eww, Fosters. I've tried to block all memories of that brand out of my head.
Besides, everyone knows that VB has the best beer ad "matter of fact, I've got it now".
Mind you those new "made from beer" ads are pretty damn funny...

Ahhh! A brand I recognize:
<Macho, swaggering Aussie voice> Fosters. Australian for "beer." </Macho, swaggering Aussie voice>

Fosters, Australian for "dingo urine", more like it...
It's somewhat ironic that it's hard to even find Fosters over here these days. I don't know anyone at all who drinks it.

Fosters is the devil's sauce.
James Squire Amber Ale.
Now that is a beer.
Plus they have a six part story on the back (ie one part on each bottle in a six pack).
My friends and I each buy two six-packs and mix them up a lot and by the end the person with the most number of completed stories wins. I think our record is piddly, like 7 or something.
Also, anyone here know anything about brewing? Some people on /. said that this recipe would turn out poorly and I would like the advice of someone who knows what they are talking about.

Not too bad. I quite like the Boags, too. And Guinness. New's OK for a regular beer, too.

And people on slashdot don't?
Hmm, try the homebrew newsgroups, there's even an aus one if I remember correctly.

Brweing advice is everywhere. One of my friends even found beer recipes on myspace. ::shudders::

I'm glad you want to make sure your homebrew beer turns out well. I once had the pleasure (not) of tasting a brew that a friend called "The Void". It was dark (good) and cloudy (yuck) and very, very bitter (quite nasty, really). Good luck in your own brewing exercise.

What I gathered from /. posters was that the recipe lacked certian important information like which yeast to use, what hobbs to use and how long to heat... etc.
There was a very detaild howto on a mead somewhere in the comments. I thought it'd be easier and fun to make than the beer -- at least to make and have turn out allright, but I don't drink so I didn't do anything with it.

It's all aboot the microbrews. Montana is somewhat famous for some of its microbrews, but it's not the only provider of M.B.'s.
Some people's favorites: Moose Drool (never tried), Trout Slayer (pretty good)
I also like Fat Tire.
Personal Favorite Mass-produced beer: Michelob Amber Bock
