I'm planning to move to another state soon, and thus I have been choosing which computers I'm going to keep and which to sell off, but none are causing me more indecision than my Macintosh machines, all three are pretty great...it's just a tough call

Power Mac 7100/80- Actually a mutt of the later mentioned 6100/60 and this Mac which I repaired. I like this one the most as far as case design (it's made of metal), and that I have taken it completley apart and re-assembled it with the Hard Drive from the 6100/60 in it (as the original 700 MB SCSI was DOA).

Power Mac 6100/60- I have the whole setup for this computer, but unfortunatley, right now it's not working (no Hard Disk in it, see 7100/80). It's slower, but it's in a smaller case.

Power Mac 5200/75LC- This is an all-in-one unit, and it has an Ethernet port on it (benificial as it's already got all the hardware needed to connect to my network), as well as it uses IDE drives. I read that this certain model has some limitations on the serial port though.

Now, I'm normally a guy who runs PC's, but I want to keep a Macintosh around as I intend to learn about them more. Any input would be much appreciated.

Is selling them all and getting something that will run OS X an option?

I'd dump the three of 'em and pick up an old slot loader iMac. People are almost giving these babies away. I am not a huge fan of OSX so you could run 9.x on it easily.

Dump the 6100/60. Upgrade the 7100/80 to a G3 and use it for something slightly useful and keep the 5200/75LC for either an internet terminal or small file server.

I am a PC man myself but I do happen to have an iMac DV with 640 megs of ram, at 450 mhz it runs OSX at a mostly acceptable speed, at least it did. I have since downgraded to 9.1 for speed and driver issues. Specifically the fact that I can't get the DLink DWL-122 USB WiFi Adapter to work correctly on 10.3 the driver for 10.2 wrecked the machine.

I might look into that (upgrading the board on the 7100/80), since the 7100/80 is kind of a mutt anyway (a few parts were cannibalized from the 6100/60), I had no idea you could swap out the mainboards in Macintosh machine. I'm actually a PC guy myself so that's why I asked, I've seen many mac people here and I'm still learning much about the hardware. So far I've been runnign the 5200/75LC at this point because it already has an ethernet controller in it, I'm thinking I may just stick with that.
