OK so Arnie is the Guv now, but with 130 odd candidates and California being possibly the geek capital of the world, why was there no GC candidate? The huge attention that this site gets would have made Arnie's TV campaign look pathetic. We could have whupped his sorry ass, and we might now for instance have had governor Peebs hosting huge parties for us all in the mansion. We just let that one slip by us...

Still no point in beating ourselves to death with it, but we better be ready for the next Presidential election, so anyone here like to nominate a GC candidate and suggest some geek friendly policies, eg perhaps a war on Redmond (well it makes more sense than Iraq) - free clinics for those like Uilleann suffering from OS 9 dependency - trolling, bad spelling, and l33t speak in forums to be made crimes punishable with imprisonment or better still death. [Wink]

The topic header would make a good campaign slogan, so come on now, what are your thoughts?

130 very odd candidates indeed.
I particularly liked the 'adult video actress' whos policy included making lap-dances a tax-deductable business expense.

So, any bets on how long it'll be before the 2/3 voters who didn't want arnie get a petition together to recall him?

I hope they don't - if only so we don't have to hear him say "I'll be back" again.

Damn, I'd vote for her...she should come to NY, so we can get rid of Hillary (she is not *my* senator).
I never actually read the stuff on /. about this. That's what I'd like to see - a Linux loving geek in office!

Edit/P.S. Hmm, I just saw this on /. - she definitely should have beat Arnie:

I mean, come on, on the one hand, you have an [film] action star who's been recently accused of more sexual misconduct than Slick Willy, and on the other, you have someone who is loving a penguin instead...this is not a hard decision [Smile] .

What started this whole thing with all the famos people running for office anyway? was it just Arnold doing what he did with the Hummer back in the day, accidentally making it popular, or is this some sort of big thing that some one planned (or maybe just happened collectivly at once). Personally, I have to dought the mental capacity of the people who vote a movie starr into office, whether or not they are qualified. Wasn't thier even one REAL candidate that they could vote for? Right now, I can't wait for Cali forniaa to slide off the end of the continent.
