Looks like Lili is going to be headed my way. This is not good since we just weathered Isadore, the ground is soaked and the bayous are full. I expect we will see some major flooding if the storm hits us to close to where Isadore made landfall. Those of you who have faith in God please pray for us down here. The rest of you think good thoughts for us. Since I live in a trailer, I will be packing up my family and taking them to my father's house. It's made of brick and he has a generator that can power his whole house so I know we will be ok. I just hope my trailer survives unscathed.

I'm praying. But I'd still recommend you hitch that trailer onto a truck and get the HELL OUT of there.

And bring your dad too.

Hell, bring everyone you care about. This is gonna hurt.

I hope you're alrighty and don't suffer too much damage.

The worst natural phenomenon to ever occur around here was an earthquake the other week. Well, I say 'earthquake', I mean 'incredibly minor (most people didn't notice) earth-twitch'. So I guess I'm lucky.

Good luck to ya.

you're right spikey. i don't know anything. just looked it up and yeah, alternatively male and female. but i also learnt that the names are recycled every 6 years, and big blowers have their names retired.

I generally don't worry about anything under a class 4 - but I heard someone say it may get that high (it may have already, I haven't been paying attention).

So good luck, CG.

Bah, LA is getting all the good storms this year.

Well everyone, I am back in my own home. No damage here, and my parents house only suffered a tree limb that bent a gutter. They also don't have electricity. Fortunately for us we are on relatively high ground for the area, so no flooding here, but at the school where my wife works, there is water at least knee deep. Schools are closed around here tomorrow. I don't know yet if I have to report to work tomorrow. All in all we came out no worse for wear.

We had one of those in upstate NY last year. Watching the weather guy on the local news explain it was hysterical. I found the fuss especially amusing, since I grew up in the shadow of an active volcano and did the whole earthquake drill thing in grade school.

I actually had a call this afternoon from a lady in New Orleans who was asking why her DSL wasn't working. She was calling from her cell phone because her phone was not working.

Well, DUH!
