Try here in the knowledge vault at Cyberarmy. Incase people wonder Iused to to use this site for the fun challenges they used to have on their website nothing more. Other than that read up on TCP/IP STMP and other networking topics and the basic ideas should come to you.

(a simple socket based trojan isnt too hard as long as you want something simple that a firewall can easily stop)

But beware, the giant beaver of doom will smite thee should you make something mean [Smile]

Well, it's not that hard to write a program that copies it's self... A tojan is just a pretty little program that also happens to do something harmful (like delete system files or the like).

To be honest, a virus is just a program... Most of the more damaging ones use gentic programing or other AI techniques to dodge anti-virus programs.

So, the question becomes "What do you want it to do?" I suppose the closest thing I can think to a virus that would be non harmful would be a spider program or worm that self-replicates.

I have an old DOS program will make virus's. You edit the config file to tell it what you want your virus to do. them assemble it and viola! You have a virus. Cheap easy and fun, if you like I'll dig it up and send it to you.

Interesting ideas, addiew.

Someone actually wrote some software (forgotten the name) that sniffs the network of the machine it's running on, and collects downloaded images and then displays a collage of them onscreen. Apparently lots of fun to run in certain workplaces, depending on what people download [evil]

Hope he sends me a postcard from Cuba.

Definitely potato chips.
The image is a little unclear (the lighting was bad, and there was a glitch in the IR sensor) but I'm fairly sure they were salt-and-vinegar.

We'll know for sure when the spectrograph readings are analysed.

What's wrong with salt & vinegar chips? They're really quite tasty. [Smile]

That would be EtherPEG. That was a riot. I was there at MacHack when it was released.

Hmm, there must be more than one floating around, because I don't think that's the one I remember...

Damn, you computer geeks carried the analogy far...how does "genetic programming" work in base 2 (because I know all to well how it's done in base CGAT/U)?

Now there's an idea...a virus that randomly replaces your .doc or .txt files with random sequences from, oh, how about other viruses, just to be poetic.

And I really need this T-storm to pass so I can go home.

I'm sure there's a program for Windows similar to EtherPEG, but does anyone know of one?

"No, Dorito."
"You can track me with that?"
"No, but it sure was funny."
