Had to put my 2¢ in, since I'm new around here:

PowerMac G3, 300Mhz desktop, (soon to be upgraded to whatever is the fastest ZIF out there), Orig ATI Radeon 32MB Video Card, internal 6G HD, 100MB ZIP and floppy, 768MB RAM, PCI USB card (soon to be upgraded to USB/Firewire combo card), running OS9.1 (no desire to go any higher).

My monitor is a 13" Sony Trinitron, which I'm hoping to switch to a flat panel 17" in the next few months. I can't complain, my Sony has been functional and hardworking, but I need more space! Both physically and visually!

Now, I'm on the hunt for a Powerbook. I've wanted a laptop for awhile and I'm thinking a used G3 would be a good way to go, since I can tinker a bit with it as well....

GG.

I LOVE MY MAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My home box is slightly out of date, but well-featured these days. Athlon 800, 512 M RAM, 80 Gb Maxtor hard disk, CD-ROM and CD-RW, Zip drive, 17" Dell monitor fed by a Creative Labs 3D Blaster (nVIDIA Riva TNT2), and an HP OfficeJet Pro 1150C printer/scanner/copier. It dual-boots Win98SE and Debian GNU/Linux.

My wife's current box is an old PII-350, but she's thinking of replacing it soon with a top-of-the-line Toshiba notebook. The one she's looking at has a P4 Mobile 2.2GHz, 512 Mb RAM, 40 Gb hard drive, 16" TFT screen fed by a GeForce 4, combination DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, built-in Ethernet and modem, and (this is the feature that really pushes it over the top) a detachable keyboard and optical mouse with an RF interface. She'll probably plug her existing Dell 19" monitor into it, along with her Canon inkjet printer, her Visioneer scanner, her Intel Webcam, and her Intel pocket MP3 player. (And once she relinquishes her old box, I may cannibalize its DVD-ROM drive and its ATI video card for my own box...)

Sounds like there's a minority of pc users here...but here goes

P4 2.8 GHz (this baby smokes!)
3 gb rambus...
total of 600 gb hd space
don't have all the specs memorized (just built it) but a 128 mb nvidia card of some sort or another (only cost about $400)
loaded with all other types of nice stuff.
dualbooting redhat 7.3, mandrake 8.? and use win4lin very occasionally with win2k

now for my old systems...

AMD athlon k-7 950 MHz (well this one isn't toooo old)
40 GB western digital hdd
384 MB pc 133
16 mb nvidia tnt 2 video
hpna modem of some sort by broadcom

celeron 466
8 gb hdd
integrated video
192 mb ram
some sound card or another

PII 233 hp vectra
4 gb hdd
4 mb video
96 mb..ouch..edo

I have about 4 other systems ranging from 100 to 300 mhz...don't have the time to list all the specs on them.

BTW, all of these are on a *ouch* hub based network

OK, Pamela did get her Toshiba notebook. Sadly, it is no longer top of the line; they released a model just like hers, but with an even faster processor, an even larger hard disk, and built-in 802.11b (WiFi) networking. She plugged her 19" Dell monitor into it, and, as a result, has dual desktops! She also has an external USB keyboard and mouse for when it's on her desk, as well as her existing printer, scanner, and WebCam...and I had to buy an adapter to hook her serial Palm cradle to the USB bus.

And so, I did in fact cannibalize the DVD-ROM drive and the ATI video card from her old machine, as well as the internal Zip drive. She did, however, get my parallel port Zip drive in exchange.

And so I've been tinkering to get things working under Linux. Haven't set up DVD playback under Linux yet, but that's on the list, one of these days...

I'm running a B&W G3 that I've upgraded to a 400Mhz G4, then overclocked to 450... it has dual monitors, one of which is a super-classic apple 14in. display. I'm only running 448megs of RAM, but that will change soon enough. I also have 3 hard drives, one of which is using the ATA that my zip drive SHOULD be using, 'cause I'm ghetto.. I also have a beige G3, that is about to be put to good use, A performa 6115cd that supposedly doesn't exist, and a powerbook 5300cs (aka firebomb) that still rocks the house.. I designed a whole zine on that little powerbook. all it needs is a new battery.

Just ordered a few new parts for my machine:
Seagate Barracuda IV 80 GB
Zalman ZM-300A-APF power supply
80mm Panaflo case fan

These should help keep my computer cooler and quieter. In addition, they shall make for good components to a better computer whenever I build that.

I am really poor so at home I have a rev D Imac (in Strawberry) and a powerbook 190c which is capable of running netscape 1.0 [Happytears]

At work I have a dual 1Ghz G4 which is more like it. Too bad I'm still running OS 9.2.2. because of my bl00dy Heidelberg scanner.
