Well, I've made a few posts already, so I guess I'll introduce myself.. I'm 24. I'm a barista who used to be a graphic designer. I really like photography. I rock. I really love it when a plan comes together. I rock with a Macintosh, but am always looking for a C64.

Ahoy! I gave ya a 5, too, because you really like photography (so do I! Yay!), and I like your interest in making art with science [Smile] Is your occupation full of joy?

The Twinkie welcomes thee! Would you like some toast?

It's no trouble, really, I can make some...

Are you sure? Alright. *bites into the toast*

*sees GE getting angry at her [Mad] *

But you said you didn't want any! Oh no [Frown] ...

Um ... *Coughing Intermission*

TwinkleToes, what kind of photography are you into? what format? I always like talking to other photographers about what type of equipment they use, and horror stories about shoots. ahh, trespassing is funny.

* as per what Irene Kelly said below, does anyone have anything photographic to talk about?

I am. Currently without any decent equipment, though. My brother has my darkroom equipment, I have no room for it in my house; my last camera that was worth anything was stolen [Frown]

Best time of my life. Really broadened my perspective... people are really the same everywhere when you take the time to know them.

Before my days are done I hope to go back again as a civilian instead of as a soldier.

USED to be a graphic designer? So are you a full-time photographer now? Interesting... I'm studying to be a graphic designer right now, but I've had my share of snapshots as well.

I'm sorry I didn't answer this sooner, GE, I usually can't remember where I've posted.

Anywho, I unfortunately don't 'have' the money to buy a good camera... so I just use me trusty Olympus DX Trip MD3 (the lens is only 34 mm, heehee), haha!

What I mean by not 'having' the money to buy a better camera is that my mom and I have a joint savings account, and she would probably be angry if I spent some of it on a "silly camera for a hobbie [Roll Eyes] ."

I simply say, "Screw that! At least I have talents and interests in hobbies that don't include acting like a bimbo and going for the first trashy 'all-American' idiot/BUM just for the green card!!" [Big Grin] [Big Grin] I love myself. ((Every night! [Eek!] ))

In case you're even *more* curious (oh, now I'm in trouble!), here's some more info on what type of photography I like and why:

I've been to Peru (it was oki, but I wouldn't go again), and I'm going to Ireland and England this summer [Big Grin] ! I'm definitely going to get good shots there (go Stonehenge!!)...

I've always wanted to visit Alaska. It's a state that I was considering living in for a while. I wouldn't likely stay in *any* state for too long, since I like to move around a lot, but I think Alaska would suit me the most [Smile] *shrug*.

... Well, as long as they have nifty Goodwill store and good rock stations.

Patrick- Well, I'm not a pro photographer, yet. I was a graphic designer, but the market is flooded, and frankly, me and all my colleagues are out of work. Right now I'm just a barista, doing photo and web design on the side. If you're going to school for graphic design, I suggest you change majors..quick. I don't mean to discourage, but there is NO design work out there..

Twinkle Toes- ANY camera is a good camera..though, you can get a descent Canon AE-1 on EBay for 50 bucks.. or a Minolta SRT-102..if you find the minolta, snatch it up, it'll take most any minolta OR vivitar lens, from almost ANY year, and requires no batteries to trigger the shutter, unlike the Canon. both are good. For the record, I don't use new cameras. I'm not a fan of plastic bodies, and those stupid LED displays always die, leaving the camera useless.

Quite, GE. I, as well, would like to use older cameras for two reasons: 1) they're all-around better, "duh" [Roll Eyes] , and 2) it'd probably help me 'get into the mood.'
