I've been reading stuff from the newbies, and the natives here look fairly friendly,
so I figured I'd put down anchor and test the waters!

Mind if I park it here for a while?

Yes! We fooled another one!

Now everyone be very careful! Let's lull him into a false sense of security and then show him how nice and friendly we can really be!

Hi!

I´m pretty new too, and I´m trying to work myself up by posting wherever it doesn´t hurt.
I guess ´assimilated´would be a nice status where I´d slow down a bit

Sharing an e-bong would be difficult. I don't think I can hold my breath until the next person posts.
Yay! ...and let's all 'get back to the garden'.
My kids hate it when I sing Joni Mitchel songs.

Too bad about your kids, Fluff.

Wanna have some fun? Call 'em in---

---and we'll do a Sing-Along!

.....and a 1, and a 2.....

Big Yellow Taxi
by Joni Mitchell

They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot spot

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

They took all the trees
Put 'em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Hey farmer farmer
Put away that DDT now
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees
Please!

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Late last night
I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi
Took away my old man

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

I fine song as well, but the quote was from 'Woodstock'.

A related anecdote: I was watching "Hey Arnold" (a Nickelodeon cartoon) with my daughter and one of the kids says "I feel unfettered and alive". Arnold asks, "What does that mean?" His friend replied, "I don't know, I heard it on some hippy record my sister has". I burst out laughing and my daughter gave me the "what's so funny look". Kids, they don't understand you and you can't kill 'em.

QF...

Are you a member of the Warriors of the Rainbow?

...and yes I know the line was from "Woodstock"

Maybe you can read it to your daughter,
or if she's old enough, let her red them her self.
---then tell her what it means.

...to be stardust, and golden
billion year old carbon.
caught in the devil's bargain
...and why we're got to get ourselves
back to the garden

WOODSTOCK

I came upon a child of God
He was walking along the road
And I asked him, where are you going
And this he told me
I'm going on down to Yasgur's farm
I'm going to join in a rock 'n' roll band
I'm going to camp out on the land
I'm going to try an' get my soul free
We are stardust
We are golden
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden

Then can I walk beside you
I have come here to lose the smog
And I feel to be a cog in something turning
Well maybe it is just the time of year
Or maybe it's the time of man
I don't know who l am
But you know life is for learning
We are stardust
We are golden
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden

By the time we got to Woodstock
We were half a million strong
And everywhere there was song and celebration
And I dreamed I saw the bombers
Riding shotgun in the sky
And they were turning into butterflies
Above our nation
We are stardust
Billion year old carbon
We are golden
Caught in the devil's bargain
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden

---It was rather my strong leanings toward
the Environmental movements that make me
identify with Joni's equally popular song.

Hee hee, yeah! A "Larva"

---a Maggot!
Well, I think it's meant in a fun way...
a euphamism for "Newbie"

it's just in a Gardener's mind such a designation is
a BIT too strongly associated with White Grubs
(Japanese Beetles) etc.
But what da' heck, I can go along with a Gag!

I asked somewhere if someone could tell me
"When do I get to stop being a "maggot"
...so I could spread my wings and "FLY"?"

...but I never got an answer.

I'm looking forward to seeing you again.
I know you're pinched for time because of your
schedule, ---So chasing me around will be a pain.

Maybe we can establish a kind of Mail Drop address.
Perhaps a WW-tW3
-where we can all find each other! Throw erasers,
shoot paper-clips, & run with scissors, and not cause
too much havoc and harm to the general population.

For now THIS will have to do.

JAKE

No. I'm not familiar with them. A web search turned up a Cherokee poem, but I didn't get the connection to Joni Mitchell. I just have broad musical tastes and a gift for memorizing song lyrics and movie/tv dialog.

Maybe you can read it to your daughter, or if she's old enough, let her read them her self. --- then tell her what it means.

I subject my kids to all of my music. Getting them to care about what the lyrics mean is the hard part.

sosumi: the blobbie is very cute.

Sorry 'bout dat, QF!

(The cross-post that is)
I wasn't laughing at you, --but at Sosumi's
little "Blast From the Past"!
Sue is my creative altered ego.
She once created an entire page of those
things skipping in circles to the music of
Screaming Jay Hawkins singing:
"I Gotta' Spell on You!!!"
It was MADDENING!!!
the Blobbies cling to me like cockle-burrs
everywhere we go!

This one?

When the earth is ravaged and the animals are dying,
a new tribe of people shall come unto the earth from
many colors, classes, creeds, and who by their actions
and deeds shall make the earth green again.

They will be known as the Warriors of the Rainbow
-- Old Native American Prophecy

You're on the right track---
---but the link with the link is a bit more convoluted.
