What are your plans for the evening? I'm not sure what I'm up to yet, but it will probably involve uploading a comic at some point.

Doesn't "2002" sound like a cool year?

I think that may be because it's palindromic (if that's a word). Last one was 1991, and the next will be 2112. Personally, I can't wait until 8008, which will not only be palindromic, but each half is a mirror image of the other.

My plans? Nothing too exciting. Maybe some reading, maybe some coding. I'm not much of a party animal.

Sorry tafkact, I'd love to but i live down south in good ole(note sarcasm) North Carolina.

I'd ask if anyone on the boards lives 'round these parts but people in NC arent much for "dem new fangelled tv-typwriters' hehe.

My apologies to anyone who lives in NC and does actually own a computer (even though i'm pretty sure me, Billy Bob and Cleatus the Slack-Jawed Yokel are the only ones), yes i realize Red Hat's HQ is in the Triangle (Raliegh Durham Chapel Hill area for all you non-NC'ers)

I'll be in a hotel room in Tuscaloosa, AL with a cute girl... however, we don't have -that- kind of a relationship so far, so don't get all envious or anything.

JainDough:
There are a couple of other people from North Carolina who post on the forums. I'm not sure if they have their location listed, however, so I'm not going to name them.

Bunch of socialites... I'll be spending the evening on my computer, among other things, I'll be chatting in #aftery2k with any of my fellow eremitic beings.

'nother bad joke time...
Actually, Dick Clark not aging is only an illusion. Every year, for the rockin' new year's eve, they move the camera back just a little bit more....this year, they're got it mounted in Trenton.

For the past couple of NYEs, Snaggy and I would have a cam/chat on #aftery2k. I think I'll keep up that tradition this year too!

We were just going to do our usual tradition of watching a movie and whatever New Year celebrations are on TV, getting tipsy on Sparkling Cider and Ruffles with Onion dip, but a friend has invited us over to his place (which will probably involve much of the same). I'm considering talking him into going to a movie earlier in the evening (perhaps LOTR again, or maybe Ocean's 11).

Well, I have an invite out to a bar to see a band. I dont know if I will go though. Also, depending on my schedule, I might be working... we will see.

Somehow I think I would rather be working than at a bar though.

At exactly 0:00 January 1, 1999, my then-girlfriend (now wife) and I and a couple thousand of our fellow New Yorkers ran a 5 km race through Central Park. It was 14 degrees Fahrenheit (-10 C) with strong winds and we all huddled together at the starting line in a dancing mass of bodies. At midnight the gun went off and as we dashed south we could see the lights and hear the crowd a dozen blocks downtown in Times Square. Halfway through the race, volunteers handed out cups of Champagne. We had to poke our tongues through the crust of ice at the top before pouring the cold booze down our throats. My girlfriend and I held hands and kissed. At the finish line we turned right and ran all the way back to her apartment where we stripped off our clothes and made for the hot shower.

The next year I proposed.

This year we'll probably just cook a nice dinner. Either we'll see what is going on around town later or maybe rent a video. I'll definitely avoid the babbling heads on TV.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's 8:00 PM on New Year's Eve and I finally know what I'm doing! I'm meeting up with a couple friends at a party thrown by a friend-of-a-friend to say hi to anyone I know there (probably not too many...), then we're heading over to a club party featuring "Fetish Performances & Go-Go All Evening" (as described on flier). Sounds like my kind of fun.

I spent the day with my old room mates son, he's 8. We went to see Jimmy Neutron, and we both thought it was pretty good. Other than that I did nothing.

And thus ends another exciting day/year in the life of pawn. Read my entire life story, coming soon to a bookstore near you.....yeah right.
