we need your good news! The news is so heartbreaking right now, the economy so depressing, we all need the good stuff, so please share here. To start the ball rolling, here's something from swissmiss.com. Check out this lovely ballsy positive 22 year old poet at TED Sarah Kay
BTW do try to ignore the cheap YouTube style insults in the comment thread underneath if you want to keep that positive vibe going. ![[Frown]](frown.gif)

The good news here is that Spring has finally arrived. It's about a month late, but still very welcome. I even cut my grass a couple of days ago.
(Yep, most people don't realize that the West Coast of Canada has very very mild winters. Down here at sea level, we only get snow for about two or three weeks.)

Lucky you. It snowed this morning. :/

A dictionary of Australian English defined 'Shaggers Back' as 'any back pain boastfully attributed to too much sex'.
By that definition, I've been suffering from Shaggers Back for the last few days. Really quite bad, I-cant-get-up-out-of-my-chair bad.
The Good News is, I went to the doctor yesterday, and the drugs she gave me are miraculous. Within an hour of taking the first pill I was moving around freely, almost good as new. It's now 18 hours later, and the effects of that one little pill are only just starting to wear off. I'm very impressed.

I have crocii...or is that crocuses? Whatever. I planted 'em last fall and they are blooming. I have a bunch of other bulbs coming up too, but they aren't flowering yet. Some are daffodils. Some are tulips. Some I have no idea what they are because I just threw shit in the ground and didn't bother taking note of what went where. I know some will be iris but I'm not sure which... ![[crazy]](graemlins/crazy.gif)

I am learning how to make pie! So far I've made about 6 apple and 2 blueberry, and have been experimenting with different pie dough recipes. I've had varying success, but even bad pie seems to be good pie, and my friends at work don't seem to mind eating whatever I bring in. As I type this I'm eating a piece of apple (all-butter crust) with a big scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. And coffee. Life could be worse.

I've taken up brewing beer! So far I've successfully made an "80 Schilling" Scottish Ale and it was quite tasty. Out of an original batch of 44 (12oz) bottles, I have 5 left that I am keeping so they can age for a good while.
Sadly, my "Three Weisse Guys" wheat beer took a turn for the worse so I am going to have to dump it.

____ GS Snow a form of precipitation that is in flakes.
____ Sprouting plants, once I got a dump/truck load of dried sludge from The County Sewer plant, they had not fired it. I had all kinds of volunteer plants mostly tomato but some that grew quite tall and never formed a fruit.

Nitrozac and I watched a pod of orcas today for about three hours. Started off at 8:30 am with a sighting from our porch, where we watched them feed off herring... jumping, spyhopping, a tail wag too, then as they headed north, we drove up to a beach and watched them do the same in an area about a half mile offshore.
There was 4 or five of them, plus a small baby. Amazing!
(that's almost as good as a Jessycat sighting! )

Here at casa del druid,we're great believers in composting. Allthe fruit and vegetable scraps go in the compost bin.
Trouble is, Mrs Druid is impatient, and rarely waits long enough for the brew to be properly composted, which means there's often viable seeds left when it's put on the garden. It's kind of fun watching to see what mystery plant will show up next, one year we had a pumpkin plant that took over half of the back yard, and produced rock hard pumpkins that we just could not cut.
A few years ago, a tree sprouted. We let it grow, and have watched its progress with interest. This year it flowered, and now we're reaping a huge harvest of absolutely delicious peaches, far more than we can eat ourselves, so we're supplying the neighbours.

I re-strung my guitar yesterday.. When I bought it I put on the brand of strings I used on my old guitar but they didn't sound right.
So then I put on the expensive version of the brand of strings I used on my old guitar but they still didn't sound right.
So yesterday, I re-strung using the strings recommended by the guy at the guitar shop where I bought it. Sounds FAB! ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

This is good news to me... even though it isn't new at all...
Bon Scott. Singing in a prog rock band. And playing the bassoon.
No. Srsly.
edit OK - it's not a bassoon...it's a bass recorder. I was thrown by the surreal nature of the moment...what do you want me to say?

Ack, I kinda missed the trailing 'positive' note early on...bah humbug to my anti-snow sentiments.
OTOH, MMKK's link was grand -- and thoughts of apple pie do my heart good. (And Pi day came Saturday for me - albeit in the form of a Mrs. Smith pie I 'expertly baked.')
Today was Friday! Though there may have been chaos early on, I think it went well on the balance of things. (Besides, today also put a new bit o'badger into my day. Woo.)
Edit/P.S. Callipy: Okay, that TED talk was fantastic! ![[Smile]](smile.gif)
