Roger Ebert has just published this brief memoir and affectionate tribute to his father. It is a moving and beautiful piece of prose.

As most people know ebert from his television movie review program, like me, many often forget he is an old newspaper man, and like that forgone generation, he can also write well, and not just about movies.
