I am not sure how this thread got off-topic, but I can confirm that some Macs are in fact gay. I noticed that BigAl was lying on top or Ti this mornin. It is not the first time either.

Actually I remember watching a documentry when I was little (maround 12 years ago I think) where a large amount of seagulls died out on a island because most of them turned gay. I think the presenter was trying to find out if it was genetic/natural or caused by some wierd mutation caused by pollution.

Then again Id advise no to that that too seriously, it was a long time ago and my mind may be playing tricks on me.

I know this is my second post, and I'm a complete and total newbie, and I probably should lurk and post little inoffensive snippets here and there until I become at least slightly known, but I just can't stay silent on this. I don't understand how anybody can say they or anybody else made a choice to be attracted to a particular gender or even a particular person.

And I do not in any way apologize for yanking this thread back almost on topic. Almost, because I have no idea whether Macs are gay or not...

I should probably mention that I'm bisexual, so during the course of coming out, I've spent a lot of time and energy analyzing exactly what attracts me to a person of either gender.

(I assume you mean same gender, not same species.) I'd like to refer you to a very interesting book: Biological Exuberance : Animal Homosexuality and Natural Diversity by Bruce Bagemihl. It shows the overwhelming evidence that has been collected and disregarded by scientists over the past two hundred years or so, and shows that homosexuality has been observed in just about every species known to humans.

quote:
Wether or not you conciously made the decision to be attracted to the same or opposite sex is not the question. At one point you did, the deciding factors where in your environment, and if you are to ashamed of who you are to admit that you made a choice, you might want to find a new role.
You don't have any evidence for this. I know that for a fact because the choice that I made was whether I should keep consciously tearing my eyes away from girls.

Question for you: You and a buddy are chick-watching and you point out a sexy woman (I assume that straight men do this with each other, and not solely with bisexual women). Your buddy shakes his head and says something about not understanding your taste. Did you choose to find that woman attractive? Did your buddy choose not to? If so, what about her or about you/him made you/him feel that way?

quote:
Yes I know this is blatantly truthful, but sugar coating is for doughnuts. I thought about this one before I posted it and DECIDED to go with it. And to live with th consequences of my flame bait, not to say that it was the way I was born.
First, it's not blatantly truthful. It's your opinion. Later on in the thread you say it's your opinion, so I see you've softened your statement a little, but you can say it's harsh and you can say it's blatant, but in a debate you can't say something is truth without a crap ton of evidence.

There is a difference between taking responsibility for your actions and taking responsibility for your desires. A pedophile may not be able to repress hir desires for children, but s/he can keep from acting on them. And before you jump on me about that, yes gay/bisexual people CAN keep from acting on their desires, but the difference between homosexuality and pedophilia is that homosexuality, when expressed, is between two consenting adults. Personally, I don't see any reason why I should not act on my desires, given that the person I am attracted to feels the same way about me.

And re male flies raping other male flies--damn you people, I was EATING.

The Mac is not a gay computer. It is a work of art that WORKS.

You PC hobbyists out there, you spending your thousands of dollars to upgrade internal hardware PER YEAR (seriously, actually look at your last 12 months of computer-related purchases) to have a system that's buggy and eminetly hackable... yeah, go ahead and call my system gay, but at least I'm not at Fry's every weekend any more in the Buy-and-Return cycle.

For a slower computer (which has more games that still don't work right), you pay twice as much over the same amount of time.

Of course, I will say I go through power supplies on my laptop, but the laptop still works. It takes a serious beating because I'm not very careful (being a dumbass and all), but it WORKS. The only time it doesn't work is if I do something TO it. My old Windows boxes would bluescreen because I had the audacity to turn the bastard on.

Fine. My computer's gay. But it's much better than yours. So neener neener neener. [Razz]

As for the Cat-dolphin porn... well, I don't think a cat would like the water and I don't think the dolphin would like claws on its bits.

The dolphin would probably like the barbed cat genitalia even less, methinks.
