OK, you may have heard about it already, if not, ... you will!

A total solar eclipse will be tracking across the USA on August 21, 2017. If there is anyway possible you can see it, do. Total solar eclipses are the most mind-blowing celestial event you will ever witness, but of course, you must be in the umbra (the full shadow of the Moon)

Here's some good links about the eclipse..

on Twitter, follow Tyler Nordgren @NightSkyPark

and my favorite Google Map of the eclipse track! A great way to plan your viewing site

Be in the umbra!

July 20 1963, I was there, out in the yard with my cardboard box, watching the pinhole image.

To see the total eclipse of the sun

I would love to see the full effect, but I don't know if I'll be able to get to a good spot at the right time [Frown]

Nope The easiest place to go would be down by Spring Hill Tenn. and visit the Corvette plant also.

Total eclipses are awesome.

There was one at Casa del Druid when I was 15, the next one near(†) me is in 12 years.

Anyone on/near the eclipse path want a houseguest next year?

† - for suitably large values of 'near'
