I have high hopes for the Space Invaders movie. There's virtually no story to stick to, so the movie could do practically any sort of alien invasion story they wanted to do as long as there are some anti-aircraft guns shooting down incoming aliens at some point. That amount of freedom in storytelling could result in something great.
Or it could be a mediocre remake of "Plan 9 from Outer Space"

So I just resorted to Wikipedia to see a little back history -- I remember Captain Planet, just barely (the cheeziness is unforgettable!).
What I wasn't expecting to find is just how many episodes were made: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Captain_Planet_episodes
I do find it more than a bit ironic that it starts out with an oil leak in a wildlife preserve. It's ANWR and the Gulf Spill...foretold 20 years ago.

If they are going to do this to some old rather campy TV cartoon series, surely it should be Thundercats?

Actually the Cartoon Network is bring back the Thundercats.
I always have mixed feelings about all these remakes.
