Donald N. Frey, Designer of the Mustang, Dies at 86

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/29/us/29frey.html?emc=eta1

Donald N. Frey, the engineer who spearheaded the design and development of the Mustang, the spunky, stylish, affordably priced “pony car” that the Ford Motor Company rolled out in the mid-1960s in one of the most successful car introductions in automotive history, died March 5 in Evanston, Ill., where he lived. He was 86.

____ Oh Snaggy, you had to have lived in Michigan at that time. The hype was that the Mustang would get the same 32valve motor as the Ford GT-40s that were going to Lemans, yeah right. Instead a 170 ci inline six a 260 V8 or a 289 V8 on that light body the six did give good performance, just not like the big Pontiacs of the same year. I was driving a 1930 Ford Model "A" 4 cylinder talk about slow.

Rednivek, Hey I was thinking about you recently. We were out driving the back roads of the LP and I was looking at silos and thought of you living in Detroit.
