What is the easternmost part of the USA?

I'd guess one of the Pacific islands, something just West of the 180° line.

Aren't there a few island off the coast of Alaska that sit on the other side of the line, for chance? (I seem to remember the date line is ragged around there, but I don't remember where the meridian line passes through.)

Edit: just checked Google Maps: Semisopochnoi Island would fit the bill.

You are correct.

I ran across that little tidbit as I was researching the dreadful battle for Attu Island in WWII.

This geographic anomaly makes Alaska both the easternmost and westernmost state in the USA.

Should I make anything of the fact that 75% of responses were from Canada, 25% from Australia, 0% from the USA?
