Wow, heck of a good review of Tiger over at the Wall Street Journal.

Walt Mossberg says "Overall, Tiger is the best and most advanced personal computer operating system on the market, despite a few drawbacks. It leaves Windows XP in the dust."

but rats, he says Mail is slow. [Frown]

Congrats Apple! Them are powerful words from THE tech guru.

[thumbsup]

He's been consistently pro-Apple lately, saying things like "If you want to avoid the security problems of Windows, switch to Mac OS X." (paraphrased) [Beard of Peter Gabriel!] [thumbsup]

Yeah, who would have thought that you should be able to buy an OS that works out of the box, and doesn't need messing about with to do work. Christ, who would want a system where you don't have to tweak everything, but comes pre-configured out of the box.

In fact, all you should get when you buy an OS is a compiler and vi. Everything else you should configure yourself.

everybody knows emacs is the only OS! Its a full desktop environment, physics engine, and strategic nuclear missile guidance system wrapped in one ball of bloat.

I knew about the other stuff in Emacs, but how do I access the physics engine?

Hold on -spht- that's not enough, how's about all the other clichés I have come to love from you PC boys, for instance all that stuff about heroic manly computing in the "real" world! Please give it to us, that is if you are not to busy saving the world right now, as I haven't seen a decent Mac PC flame fest in ages. [Wink]

Even though I am drooling in anticipation of Tiger and the box is whisking its way to my box even as I write, I'll not install it until 10.4.3 at the earliest.

No OS software comes ready out of the box anymore. The .1 update is put out fairly quickly to take care of blatant bugs in the original OS release. The .2 is to fix what they screwed up in the .1 update

10.4.3 should be the first really solid release. I'll take the plunge then.

My guess is that Mr. Bush uses the same operating system as Dilbert's pointy-haired boss.

But as for me... I had Tiger up and running last night. I love it! I've been playing with various Widgets and even added the Hula Girl Widget to my Dashboard (seemed appropriate [Smile] ). In particular, I look forward to training clients to use VoiceOver and to evangelizing its benefits over Windows-based screen reading alternatives.

Speaking of being hooked on Tiger, the "Next Joy" link on the previous Joy keeps loading the same page.

Looks like Bill's really moved to an Infinite Loop address! [crazy]
