What do you think was happening in the Iraq / UN Food for Oil program?
Who benefited, and how? Did it accomplish its stated goals?

So, where are you people getting your definition of "think" from?
There have been snide, inane remarks and personal attacks, but that really doesn't indicate much rational thought.
quote: Originally posted by Xanthine: Um, why are you even trying to debate this?
I asked what you thought. I can tell what many of you think about the U.S. by looking anywhere in the forums, but other than that, I can't tell what you're "thinking."

I think it's a completely moot point and doesn't warrant any current discussion. We invaded Iraq and locked up the oil contracts. The Oil-for-Food program is dead, remember? We're currently on a Blood-for-Oil program, which I think is idiocy.
Was it a good idea at the time? I don't know. I wasn't paying very close attnetion to world affairs at the time.

ASM. No one gives a shit what you have to say. It doesn't get any more simple than that.
This thread, like all your others, is an attempt to start a flame war and you know what? We are all goddamn sick and tired of it.
Please join in with the others when you have something insightful or funny to say, until then: Shove off.
I expect any troll type threads you start will be diverted just like this one. Buh-bye.

What we're thinking has been made perfectly clear.
We're thinking that we don't want to get into another round of long rambling, pointless rants from you, where you never acknowledge any of our points, and half the time we don't even know what point it is you're trying to make.
Ah, what the fsck, it's pointless even trying to explain that, I feel a WWCVD moment coming on...

The day you see more rational thought from us, ASM, is the same day we see more rational argument in your posts. I'm thinking that's not going to happen any time soon. Hence, we're not debating you any further. Take it as a sign of victory, if you will, go away beating your chest and shouting triumphantly. But just go away.

It's estimated that over $20 billion was diverted away from providing Iraqis with food and medical aid. quote: Originally posted by Xanthine: I think it's a completely moot point and doesn't warrant any current discussion.
Is $20 billion an insignificant sum of money? Not enough to be concerned over?
Was the U.N. "robbed"? What was the money used for? Nothing?
Are the investigations completely inaccurate? quote: Originally posted by Xanthine: The Oil-for-Food program is dead, remember?
Does that mean what happened is irrelevant because the program no longer exists?
quote: Originally posted by csk: Take it as a sign of victory, if you will ....
Why would I think that this is some kind of victory? No one is willing to answer questions. There's only been vulgarity and name calling. I didn't even accuse a single person of wrong-doing. I asked about opinions on the Food-for-Oil program.
If I've slandered some country, organization, or international figure in this thread, let me know by quoting the posts I've made.
