I got to peek into an F-16 once. After Gulf War I they displayed all sorts of stuff on the National Mall - Patriot missile batteries, planes, tanks, captured Iraqi equipment (stuck my head in an Iraqi tank too, now that I think about it), etc., and soince my family was living in the DC area at the time my dad took all us kids down to see it. I'm not sure where Mom was that day. Anywho, the F-16 impressed me in how short it was. I wasn't more than 4'10" at the time and I was eye-level with the cockpit. The F-15 was a bit bigger. The Iraqi tank just looked fscking cramped.

That's the closest I'll probably ever come to flying a plane.

Well I've flown a plane, and I've jumped out of one too. Anyway, the experiences were not as exciting as you'd think.

Yes, but have you tried the "Mile High Club"?

I've flown a plane before too and i thought, though it was a small sesna 2 seater, it was one of the most exhilatating experiences ever.

I think it was a cessna I flew too. It is much less fun (IMHO) than driving a car because there is no challenge. You can fsck up as much as you want, but you'll never really hit anything. The bloke I was in the plane with was encouraging me to stall the thing. At the height we were at, and the type of plane, there was no danger at all. There was some champagne in the bases fridge for the first person in an accident. It had been there for as long as the place had been open- at least 25 years.

6th AEF squadron, I salute you. A great use of the british taxpayers money!

Cool pics, Snaggy!

Whiich reminds me -- around Aug 13 or so, I'll be up in Abbotsford, taking my own cool pictures of airplanes. [Smile]

I can't wait... (I know, it's a little early to get excited yet, but I am anyway. [Big Grin] )
