My mom's cell phone recently stopped receiving incoming calls (when someone tries to call, their call goes straight to voicemail or rings twice and then goes to voicemail). Also, when trying to make outgoing calls, she enters the phone number and presses call and gets the error message "Emergency Calls Only". I looked through every setting on the phone but found nothing. I haven't checked the manual at all because I don't currently have access to it. I tried turning the phone on and off, taking out the battery, and removing the SIM card. None of these worked. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem and/or how to fix it? Thanks for any help!

Have you tried paying the bill?

Yep, the bill's all paid up, as usual. We're on a family plan and everyone else's phone works fine.

Try swapping with a known good SIM card. This might be the ticket. Otherwise you may have a damaged contact in the SIM holder. Other Possible other defects may be present including but not limited to Firmware, Carrier block and or other Carrier related issues.
