Hello, everyone! The itunes site has now started making "Lost" available for download the day after it airs in the US for $1.99.

My question-when I leave for the UK next month, will I be able to access and download from the US site??? I would pay through my US account.

The Apple UK site does not have Lost available-even if it did, it would be one season behind.

If not, is there any alternative? Like getting someone to download and send them to me as a file-or is it just too big??

I need to find a way!! I'm so addicted to that show!!!

It may if your keep you account info the same as it is now. If you visit the UK Apple site (from the US) http://www.apple.com/uk/ , navigate to the iTunes page and click on the "free" download of the week it will prompt you to switch stores. If you add the song you will get the error "Your account is only valid for purchases in the US Music Store. Clicking OK will take you to this store." Not sure if it checks the IP address too though.

Hey snupy!

You should be OK... we are able to download songs via the US store from Canada. Like Bibo says, just use the US store and your US account info. [Smile]

On the subject of iTunes ... there's been reports of price-cutting in the CD market since iTunes launched here in oz.

Did this happen elsewhere? Have CDs got cheaper in recent years where you live?

I think it just depends on where your debit/credit card comes from. That's what it used to be, I'm sure.

Suggestion - why don't you let ~Mr. Snupy use your iTMS account to download one episode over there, and tell you if it works...

yeah, thought of that, Dman, but his pc has bit the dust. In the process of getting a new one. I'll just have to wait.

Well, if it doesn't work, will it work if someone in the US downloads it and sends me the file, or will it be too big??

It will work but it has DRM protection and will require you to enter the account name and password of the person that downloaded it. So either you give a trusted person your account info or vise versa.

My point, though, was to test it from abroad...

It will probably work, particularly based on what Snaggy said. This partially assumes, of course, access to US financial services, AFAICT. For Snaggy, that's not too far of a drive, last I recall...(but I may be wrong.)

I'd also be a flippant person, and just suggest checking out the Big Blue Room. [Razz]

Didn't Snaggy get songs from the US iTunes store via US Gift Cards for the iTunes store? Could you not purchase US iTunes gift cards before you leave?

ooh-that's a thought, , but I thought earlier someone said they couldn't get access to the US site from abroad.

ok, so the file's protected, so sending it to me won't work. I'll just have to hope Mr Snupy gets a new pc before I get there.

Or that one of my UK friends (Allan, Hey-U??) could try it with my account. [hearts]

AFAIK the store only checks that the credit/debit card associated with the account doing the purchasing is from the same country as the store you are purchasing from.

Right. That made a lot of sense.

My point is, the store doesn't care where the IP address is registered. It only cares that your account is based in the proper country. Make sure when you access the Music Store through iTunes that USA is selected as your country (bottom of the page).

And please don't beat me up if it turns out I'm flat wrong [Wink]

Just an update for anyone else interested-I've been enjoying my Lost episodes(on a brand new pc with a great monitor, too!!)

I made the mistake of changing my bank address last month to the uk so I would get my 1099 here, and I was blocked out of itunes. I have left a credit card with my old address(surely when the mail is returned this will be a problem, but I'll deal with it then), and I can download again

FYI: Something I believe Snaggy can confirm - iTunes gift certificates/cards bought from the US Store (w/a US CC#) are supposed to work for downloading TV episodes. So you might be able to stock up a bit, or have a US comrade help you out a bit.
